Allan eC is a communication
platform that gives you the possibility to communicate in
the way that suites you best.

The name Allan eC
is composed from "All languages electronic Conversation".
It is a product that offers the possibility to use text, voice
and video simultaneously in a conversation.
Allan
eC is a multifunction-terminal for sign language, text and
voice, offering better telecommunications in many situations.
Allan
eC is a kit to be added to a computer. It contains a camera,
a video capture board, headset, alerting system adapter, user
manual and software.
Allan
eC is developed for communication in the Internet and other
network using the IP protocols.
Allan
eC follows international standards for Total Conversation
with simultaneous video, text and voice. These standards are
created with accessibility in mind, but integrated with the
existing multimedia communication standards.
The
computer, used for the Allan eC system can also be used for
all general computer usage such as word processing, e-mail
and Internet browsing.
Allan
eC can be used also by speech-impaired people. Voice can be
used in one direction and written text as reply. Hearing-impaired
people get the support by lip reading the counterpart in the
video window.
Deaf-blind
and visually impaired people can also use Allan, when combined
with a Braille display and speech synthesis that makes it
possible to communicate with other visually impaired, hearing,
hearing-impaired and deaf people.
Hearing
people can see each other and add typing while they talk through
a headset.
During
the call, there is a possibility to have a real time text
conversation. It can be used for example for avoid misunderstandings,
or for making addresses and phone numbers easier to perceive
correctly. This opportunity can also be used to carry the
whole conversation in text, for example between deaf people
and hearing people who do not know sign language.
Allan
eC can be equipped with a modem to perform text telephone
calls (v.18).
